Hello 🙋🏼‍♂️

Thank you for visiting my website.

My name is Lewis Treston. I’m a multi-award-winning playwright and researcher based in Southeast Queensland. My boundary-pushing body of work explores queerness, family, social performance, and the absurdities of late capitalism through a comic lens that frequently veers into the ridiculous. Mixing good and bad taste, high and low culture, irony and genuine pathos, my plays have been described as “riotously funny” (TimeOut), “deliciously camp” (The Queer Review), and “like Oscar Wilde in a hyperpop blender” (ArtsHub).

Alongside my creative practice, I have recently completed PhD concerning queer futurity and the family in contemporary drama. I also teach undergraduate courses in theatre studies, performance, and playwriting at The University of Queensland, and have mentored emerging writers through the Australian Theatre for Young People's Fresh Ink Program, the National Studio, and NIDA Open.
